It is natural for individuals detained by ICE to worry that their American dream is over, and Kenia Garcia of the Garcia & Qayum Law Group, P.A. in Miami knows exactly how that feels. You can call her today and see for yourself at (305) 230-4020.
Ms. Garcia was born in Cuba. At 14 years old she and her family came to the United States on a raft, and they were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (formerly INS) at Krome Service Processing Center. As a result, she has lived the story of countless other immigrants to the United States and knows first-hand how it feels to deal with the uncertainty her clients experience every day.
Her background led her to choose a path that would allow her to help other immigrants navigate the system she once dealt with herself. Realizing she had unique life-experience that could be of benefit to other immigrants, she decided to further her education to become an attorney.
Ms. Garcia obtained her undergraduate degree at Troy University, where she graduated with the highest honors, summa cum laude. She attended Florida International University College of Law and graduated cum laude, third in her class. While attending law school, she participated in the prestigious Immigration and Human Rights Clinic.
Once her formal legal education was complete, she immediately set to work doing everything she could to fight for the rights of immigrants while building a body of legal experience.
Ms. Garcia worked at Legal Services of Greater Miami handling landlord/tenant issues, and later had the opportunity to conduct several bench trials while serving as a Certified Legal Intern at the Miami Dade State Attorney’s Office. During her time at the Third District Court of Appeal, she assisted the Honorable Judge Barbara Lagoa.
Shaped by her unique life experiences, Ms. Garcia is an aggressive and dedicated advocate for her clients. She is fluent in English and Spanish and has an in-depth understanding of what immigrants face in the United States, both legally and personally.
Her combination of personal and legal experience is rare, and she is thankful that she now can help immigrants work their way through the complex immigration system.
